Practical Weaponry [Wednesday, Period Four]

"Good afternoon," Bond addressed his assembled class. "This class is Practical Weaponry, and it's more or less exactly that. Each week I will be presenting a scenario here in the Danger Shop, and your job will be to find a way to survive it using either methods that I will have discussed with you beforehand, or by improvising something on your own. I will be demonstrating the use of ranged, and unranged conventional weapons, as well as showing you ways to improvise weaponry from seemingly innocuous everyday items. If anyone has a problem with this, the door is over there."

He paused before continuing. "Unlike certain of your other teacher, I won't be making you wear uniforms, but I would advise you to wear comfortable clothing that allows you freedom of movement."

"Now, onto the matter of teaching assistants." One day Bond would ask for volunteers, or even interest in being his TA. This was not that day. "Reese, Hathaway, congratulations."

"Since it's our first week, we'll just stick to introductions. I want your names, class, what weapons experience you have, and how you personally would handle the zombie apocalyspe," Bond said. He pointed at a random student. "You first."

[ooc: wait for ocd up.]

Turtle might have been listening and thinking about how hot Mr. Bond was, too, if Mr. Bond didn't have to go an mention those freakin' uniforms.

Ohhh, the blaze this semester would be glorious indeed.

"Uh, luck?" Not the best answer he could have given, no. "I would hope they'd be more careful but that's not something I thought of happening mostly because I was concerned about the zombies getting the entire group."

"Get the civilians out, then contain the area, so the zombies wouldn't spread," Dinah said promptly. "Easier to do here on the island. On the mainland, I guess you'd have to push them to the ocean, or to various natural landmarks that could serve as a good buffer zone, then whittle down the numbers." She frowned. "And hope that it doesn't spread to the rest of the population." She remembered what happened when Harley Quinn let loose her attack on New Gotham. "And make sure the soldiers are protected from infection, if you know how that works, at least. Body armor. Distance weapons."

"...use a basic fireball jutsu?" Hinata said, flushing.

Because, really, she didn't need anything but her hands for that.

"I know how to shoot a crossbow," Arthur said, idly, "And a shotgun." For, er, obvious reasons. "If it hadn't, we'd have had to get more aggressive, slice a clear line down to the causeway or even the sea, find some ships or build rafts and leave the island," he noted, "Or lured them into the school, and set fire to that. Sinew alone wouldn't kill those things."

Not that Arthur had gone over this over and over and over again in his mind, or anything.

"T.R. Wexler," Turtle offered with a smile, "better known as Turtle. I'll be a senior in the fall, and I've been attending here since my freshman year, which, believe me, has opened me up to a lot of things to fight. I've been training with a gun for about two years, and I've started hand-to-hand combat training recently, and hope to pick up some weapons training, too. Being a good shot and shin-kicking can only get you through so many situations, after all. In the event of a zombie apocalypse, I think I'd handle it an awful lot like we did when the zombies attacked not too recently. Find a stronghold, establish a defensive barrier while trying to figure out a solution to put an end to it. So long as you can have a defensive and protected area, you have a chance of survival."

Rose nodded. "Or a silver stake through the heart." She didn't know if that worked on zombies.

"My name is Triela. I'll be a Junior in the Fall." She took a moment to collect her thoughts. "I am an expert in virtually all modern firearms with a focus on short-range equipment: shotguns, SMGs, and pistols."

"It turns out that most films and literature on the subject are correct: one of the most efficient approaches to eliminating zombies is a shotgun. As long as you've got ammo it's pretty much one shot, one kill."

Tybalt Capulet who is including a strikeout because breaking the trend would suck.

Triela had thousands of rounds of ammunition available, but with zombies that didn't make Bond's question an impossibility. "That's what bayonets are for. Though, really, you should endeavor to have enough ammunition on-hand that you don't run out."
