Bond's Office, Saturday

[doubleohblonde]

By this point in time, Bond was convinced that either his office was cursed, or the gremlins were deliberately breaking his heater every time Parent's Weekend rolled around. He figured that in this place, either option was equally likely.

Still there was nothing for it, and anyone visiting Bond's office should be prepared for a blast of hot air and a shirtless teacher.

Sure he did. Suuure.

Sarah snorted, while also reaching for the brandy. "Could've been your abs too, mate."

Bond chuckled and quite deliberately stretched once Sarah had the bottle.

"I do work on them." He was well past the point where pretending to have shame would've worked on her. "The abs and the wit." The booze he was a natural that.

[electrocynic]

And Sarah leered at him because clearly the stretching was an invitation to. Shame was unattractive, anyway.

"And the booze just happens, I s'pose."

Bond had always thought so.

"Well, it's hardly work when you already have impeccable taste." He was able to say that completely straight, largely because of his excellent poker face.

[electrocynic]

Sarah snorted again. This time while pouring some brandy into the thermos because... clearly that was how you had tea. Clearly.

She was a disaster sometimes.

"So, anyway. No visitors for you either?"

It was hardly like it could hurt the tea.

"Not this time around," Bond said. He had some mixed feelings about that, but M could hardly drop everything to come torment him again. "I'm sure I'll manage to survive, or maybe I'll just steal someone else's."

He was fairly sure he'd be capable of doing that.

[electrocynic]

Sarah wrinkled her nose. "Well, you're not getting any of mine," she said, and folowed that up with a swig of tea. "My supposed best bloody friend said she'd come but oh no, bloody Slicefist had to go and pull a heist."

"Of course not," Bond said. "It'd be gauche, stealing friends from friends."

"More brandy?" he asked sympathetically.

[electrocynic]

"Yes."

She even held out the thermos for that.

"This whole event is bullshit, anyway." Yes, that was a very considered opinion and not at all the product of her personal disappointment.

Bond started pouring into the thermos, waiting for Sarah to indicate he should stop.

"I imagine many of the guests must think so as well, at least the ones expecting a normal school."

[electrocynic]

Sarah did indicate for him to stop. But she took her sweet time with it, because really, it was better when there was more brandy than tea, anyway, right?

"Poor bastards." There wasn't much empathy in her tone. "Still, no one's come screeching to me about how their poor babies are living in a madhouse like this. So I suppose that's a blessing."

It wasn't like picking between tea flavoured brandy and brandy flavoured tea was a difficult choice.

"And clearly you've figured out the best way to keep your day uninterrupted." By not being in her office.

[electrocynic]

"Thank you, I think it's genius." Because she didn't want to actually meet anyone. Or at least too many people. "'Sides, if anyone desperately wants to find me, they can holler down the hallway. I might hear it."

[doubleohblonde]

"And you might even reply," Bond added. "If they sound interesting."

[electrocynic]

"Precisely," she said. "So in conclusion, I'm unlikely to bother."

Because few people could sound that interesting.

[doubleohblonde]

"And if they can't find you, it's their own fault for not being interesting enough." Bond could find no flaws in that logic.

[electrocynic]

Possibly because there was ultimately very little true logic involved. And she preferred it that way.

She nodded, firmly. "Seems best for everyone. No one wastes anyone's time."

[doubleohblonde]

"Time that could be spent doing better things." Like drinking with half-naked co-workers.

[electrocynic]

"Much better things."

And there was some more leering, like clockwork.

Bond felt so, so used. It was just terrible. Really.

"With more interesting people."
