Office Hours [All Day, Tuesday]

Bond had missed his office hours the day before due to a short head cold, and was holding them today instead.

Of course he seemed more interested playing on his computer than actually working.

Those poor soft toys.

She shook her head. "And his things weren't disturbed in his room. He didn't take anything. Not any of his clothes, or his toothbrush, or anything I gave him, or any pictures of us." Aravis had checked all the important things.

"Interesting," Bond murmured. "And you don't know if anyone saw him between yesterday morning and the evening?"

"I don't think so," she said, shaking her head. "I've not asked around."

"You could check the radio," Bond pointed out.

Aravis considered that. "I could. I was too worried to listen last night. Unless of course he's run off with his stupid nun magazines to live with the circus or something."

She took another swallow of whiskey, because she knew she was being stupid.

"I don't know. He's hid them since I found them last."

"I don't know why he doesn't just get rid of them, personally. Then he won't have to keep hiding them."

"Thank you," she said, nodding and taking that as agreement. "Idiot. I hope he's all right."

"Have you considered talking to Constable Fraser?" Bond asked, glad for the change in topic. "Or possibly the sheriff?"

As opposed to just throwing accusations around.

"I do not like that man. No. I'll find him myself," Aravis decided.

"I have to consider the possibility," Aravis told her glass.

Bond rubbed his jaw absently. "He didn't strike me as the type."

"Mmm, no, he's not." Aravis drank quite a bit more. "But then my father didn't seem like the type to use his children to barter, either. So I have to be prepared, in case."

"Oh. Yes, in a sense." Aravis shrugged, taking another sip. "If I had stayed in my father's home, I would have been married to a very wealthy man at fourteen. And then again at fifteen."

"That's Calormen. It's not like there was anyone to intervene, so I just left." She shrugged again, like it had really been that simple.
