Office Hours [All Day, Tuesday]

Bond had missed his office hours the day before due to a short head cold, and was holding them today instead.

Of course he seemed more interested playing on his computer than actually working.

Those poor soft toys.

"That's Calormen. It's not like there was anyone to intervene, so I just left." She shrugged again, like it had really been that simple.

"There was a bit more to it, but yes. And then they came and got me from here, and took me back, and I left again."

"So, yes. If my father could turn on me, Seely could too, and while I don't think he did, I can't lie to myself and just decide he didn't," she said, and drained the rest of her glass. "Thank you for the whatever that was. It's very good, if strong."

"I believe you're wrong about your Mr Booth," Bond said. "But I do get your point."

He nodded, finishing his own glass. "You're welcome."

"I should go," Aravis said, awkwardly getting up. "Retrace my steps."

Bond nodded. "Might be an idea."

"I'll see you in class," she said, summoning all her teachings of decorum to keep from letting the awkwardness she felt show.

"I'll understand if you need to...take some time," Bond responded with forced blandness.

"I'll be there," she said, shaking her head, "unless circumstances arise that actively prevent as much."

Aravis nodded. And whether it was because of the awkwardness, or because her mind was elsewhere, or because of her newfound respect for him, she wasn't sure, but she dropped a quick curtsy on her way out. Nothing more than a drop of the knee and a duck of the head, but she had still done it.

And now she could stop thinking about that and go look for Seely.
