You know my name

"...what's your name?" she asked resignedly.

"Jules," he said, frowning. "Jules Ian Bond, you know that."

Aravis stared in horror. "What?"

From:

"Mum?"

From:

"She's not your mom," RJ told him a little sharply, as Aravis set a hand on his shoulder.

"RJ, hush. Where's your father, Jules?"

"She is too," Jules replied stubbornly. "He's just coming now."

And look, there was Bond, jogging up behind Jules and looking very chagrined.

"Am I?" Aravis asked, raising her eyebrows over the little boys' heads.

Bond shook his head, hopefully too subtly for either of the boys to catch.

Aravis caught it, though, and bent at the waist to address Jules. "I see. How old are you, Jules?"

From:

"Nine," Jules replied. "And a proper gentleman, unlike Da."

From:

She smiled. "I'm sure you are. Do you know what twins are, then?"

From:

Jules nodded.

From:

"Where the people look very much the same but they're not the same person?"

For some reason, RJ was looking very knowing at this.

Jules nodded again, starting to look worried.

From:

"I'm just your mother's twin," she said, feeling a sharp little pang for the child. "I'm sorry."

"Ha."

"RJ."

From:

Jules glared at RJ. "Take that back."

From:

"Or what?" RJ asked.

From:

"Or you'll be sorry."

From:

RJ laughed again. "Nuh uh."

From:

Jules reached out to shove RJ. "Uh huh."

From:

"Hey!" RJ shoved him back. "Yeah huh!"

From:

"You so are!" Jules yelled, going to tackle RJ.

RJ was totally prepared for that, so there was equal tackling going on from his side. He may, in fact, have been trying to push Jules down as well.
